Genealogy Course offered in October & November

The Local History Department announces that a five-part genealogy course will be offered on Tuesdays in October and November. Genealogist Alan Doyle Horbal will lead the class, which is offered on October 15, 22, 29, November 12, and 19 as an afternoon session (2 – 4 pm) OR evening session (5:15 – 7 pm).

The course will outline and offer instruction on researching the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940 U.S. Census. Participants will learn how to find their ancestors’ emigration to the U.S. using the website and the website, along with several other databases. The class will cover how to search for family members outside of the U.S. using, exploring England, Canada, Poland, and other countries.

All students must have an email account and be computer literate. Registrants will select either the afternoon or evening session and are committing to all five class meetings. Attendees may bring personal laptops or use a library laptop for the afternoon session. Those who register for the evening session must bring a personal laptop. (Library laptops will not be available for the evening session.)

The course is free. Space is limited; and registration is required. Register by calling the Local History and Genealogy Department at 499-9480 x106 during regular library hours.
